Basic on the Deregistration of Sex Offender Convictions

Post-Conviction representation can involve a number of unique issues. Beyond the more obvious topics, such as parole, parole revocations, and post-conviction writs this one day seminar addresses issues related to the constitutionality of certain parole conditions, the civil commitment of sex offenders who have discharged their sentences, and even the imposition of sex offender conditions of parole on individuals who have never been convicted of a sex offense.

Scott Smith studied at the University of Texas School of Law and the Julius-Maximilians University School of Law in Würzburg Germany. After earning his JD in 1986, he returned to work in Germany until 1990, at which time he returned to Austin. Since then he has practiced exclusively in the area of criminal defense.
